Industry sources claim Acer beat HP and Dell in notebook shipments in September. Acer shipped around 3.4-3.6 million notebooks last month, compared to HP's 2.5-2.7 million and Dell's 1.8-1.9 million.

Especially the new Acer Aspire One netbook sold really well, according to the sources Acer shipped 1.2-1.3 million units of this netbook in September:
Acer shipped 1.2-1.3 million Aspire one netbooks and around 2.2-2.3 million notebooks in September, surpassing HP's 2.5-2.7 million units and Dell's 1.8-1.9 million, the sources detailed.

The Aspire one enjoyed growing demand in Europe in August and September, as well as seeing good performance in the US market. If Acer can maintain its shipments performance, market watchers expect the company could become the notebook market leader even earlier than its original goal of 2011.
