Lous Burns from Intel announced the Entertainment PC, a computer for the holiday season using the 915 PCI Express chipsets and Pentium 4 processors used for the living room.

This PC would allow people to store and manage media.
Siu said that several of its OEM customers, including HP and Alienware will use the 2004 EPC platform. It also released a networked media device guideline, version two, which is aimed at transmitting data around what it calls the digital home.
