DigiTimes writes Samsung plans to cut DRAM supply and raise prices:
DRAM makers generally hope that prices can be driven up by reduced supply, rather than by demand in the end market, which remains sluggish, the sources said.

In addition to Samsung's reduced supply, production cutbacks at Taiwan's DRAM makers will also buoy DRAM prices in the coming month, indicated the sources, adding DRAM makers hope that 1Gb DDR2 can bounce to US$1.

Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) has lowered its production by 25% to less than 100,000 wafers in December. Meanwhile, ProMOS Technologies has also reduced 30% in monthly production, while Inotera Memories has cut production by 20%.
