AMD not working on Intel Atom rival

AMD VP Randy Allen again confirmed at CES 2009 last week that it will not release a competitor to Intel's Atom processor:
AMD is of the opinion that the margins of the netbook department are too small to benefit from the increasing sales. The focus rather lies on subnotebooks which normally cost a multiple.

Thus only VIA offers an alternative to Intel's Atom chips with its Trinity platform including a nano CPU. The VIA CPUs have clock speeds between 1 and 1.8 GHz and a TDP of 5 to 25 Watt.
