Intel Atom N280 netbooks expected in by mid-2009

DigiTimes reports the first 10" netbooks based on the new single-core Intel Atom N280 processor are expected to be introduced by ASUS (Eee PC 1004DN series), Acer and Gigabyte between the second and third quarter of 2009.

The Atom N280 is a 1.66GHz chip with a 667MHz FSB, it's expected to have a unit price of $60-65 and will use the GN40 chipset.
The CPU features a core frequency of 1.66GHz and 667MHz FSB, and will be available bundled with Intel's GN40 chipset, indicated sources at notebook makers.

The Intel Atom N280 processor is priced at US$60-65 in thousand-unit tray quantities, compared to US$46 for its predecessor, the Atom N270 and 945GSE chipset, the sources added.
