Rumor: Acer to axe 8.9-inch Aspire one to make room for 10-inch netbook

The Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch is one of world's most popular netbooks but according to DigiTimes the model may be phased out in Q2 2009 to make way for the upcoming 10.1" Aspire One netbook.
Any such move would impact Quanta Computer the most, the sources commented.

Acer plans to outsource its consumer 10.1-inch Aspire one to Compal Electronics, while two enterprise models, one 10.1-inch and the other 8.9-inch, will be outsourced to Quanta, noted the sources.

However, even if Quanta loses 8.9-inch orders, the company would still receive extra 10.1-inch orders as compensation, the sources pointed out.
