Phenom vs. Phenom II - Clock-For-Clock plus O/C

BCC Hardware just posted up a comparison between the Phenom and the Phenom II. Their test subjects are the Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition that clocks in at 2.6GHz stock speed and they put it against the Phenom II X4 940 that clocks in at 3.0GHz stock. They do some overclocking on the Phenom II as well as clock up the 9950 to 3.0GHz for some clock-for-clock comparisons. Is the Phenom II the shiznit?
While the performance didn't blow me away, I was quite pleased to see the Phenom II edge out the Phenom when running at identical clock speeds. This shows that AMD can improve a good processor, and while it's not anywhere close to an i7 killer (or contender for that matter), the Phenom II has come a long way from the original Phenom that had major issues...
