Demand for Itanium 2 servers is rising

Demand for Itanium 2-based servers is picking up in the business sector, and 38 of the world’s top 100 enterprises will have installed Itanium servers by the end of this year, stated Jeff Richardson, general manager of the enterprise platforms and services division at Intel, yesterday in Taipei.

In addition, the number of Itanium 2 CPUs currently being used by the world’s top 500 companies has reached 4,096 units, Richardson said during a speech delivered at IDF Taiwan, held yesterday in Taipei.
