Inventec believes supply of key notebook components may continue to worsen in the second half of the year. Currently the market faces shortages of DRAM modules, hard disk drives and LCD panels.
Hsu said he believes increasing costs will put pressure on Inventec's gross margin for the year, but noted that the company will be able to compensate by improving production efficiency and reducing cost further. Inventec aims to maintain its gross margin above 3% for the year.

Inventec expects May shipments to hold level at 1.6 million units as shipped in April, and will see a sequential increase in June, Hsu noted.

Inventec is currently shipping 50,000-100,000 13.3-inch CULV notebooks to Acer a month, and is negotiating with existing clients including Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Toshiba for more orders, Hsu indicated.
