Intel Core i7 950, 975 EE and seven other CPUs launched

Intel has released nine new processors today, this includes the Core i7 975 Extreme Edition and Core i7 950 which replace the Core i7 965 EE and 940 models. The Core i7 975 EE is a 3.33GHz chip with 6.4GT/sec QPI speed while the Core i7 950 is clocked at 3.06GHz with 4.8GT/sec QPI speed. Prices of these two chips are $999 and $562, respectively.

Several reviews of the Core i7 975 EE have hit the web, the chip appears to be about 5 percent faster than the Core i7 965, making it the fastest desktop processor in the world.

For the desktop market Intel also released the following chips:
  • Core 2 Duo E7600: 3.0GHz, 3MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, $133
  • Celeron E1600: 2.4GHz, 512KB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, $53
  • And there are five more chips for the mobile market:
  • Core 2 Duo T9900: 3.06GHz, 6MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, 35W TDP, $530
  • Core 2 Duo P9700: 2.80GHz, 6MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, 25W TDP, $348
  • Core 2 Duo P8800: 2.66GHz, 3MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, 25W TDP, $241
  • Core 2 Duo T3100: 1.90GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, $86
  • Core 2 Duo T3000: 1.80GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, $80.
  • Furthermore, the Core 2 Duo P9600's price got cut from $530 to $316, while the Core 2 Duo P8700 was axed from $241 to $209.
