Palm OS to run on Linux

Palm OS developer PalmSource is building a version of its platform for Linux-based phones in order to compete more effectively in the global handset market. The firm has also acquired a Chinese company specialising in mobile phone software as part of its Linux plans.

PalmSource has agreed to acquire China Mobilesoft (CMS) in order to gain its version of Linux for mobile devices. The familiar Palm user interface and PIM applications will be ported to run on this platform.
