AMD releases Centrino competitor - Turion 64 Mobile technlogy

AMD has introduced a new brand name - Turion - for notebook computer chips. Currently the company has about 9 percent of the notebooks processor market and the company hopes to increase this by offering an alternative for Intel's Centrino technology.

AMD's Turion 64 Mobile Technology is aimed at light and thin notebooks.

The first notebooks based on Turion should be available by mid-year.
