Acer unveils Windows 7 3D notebook

Acer has introduced the Aspire 5738DG, a new Windows 7 notebook with 3D viewing technology. Prices start at $779.99 for a system with the Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor, Windows 7 Home Premium, a 15.6" display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, Intel PM45 chipset, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570, 4GB DDR2 1066MHz memory, 320GB 5400RPM HDD, memory card reader, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, DVD burner, integrated webcam, multi-gesture touchpad, four USB 2.0 ports, and a 6-cell 4400 mAh battery.
Introduced with the exciting new Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, the new Acer Aspire 5738DG 3D notebook will be available this week at select retailers.

Seamless 2D to 3D functionality
The Aspire 5738DG features the unique TriDef® 3D solution, which includes a 3D screen, software and glasses to enable vibrant 3D visuals. Not only does it handle 3D content with ease, but the Aspire 5738DG also takes 2D content and replicates a vivid 3D experience. It allows customers to easily switch from standard viewing applications like spreadsheets, documents and email to 3D enjoyment with a simple click of the mouse. The TriDef solution includes a simple and intuitive interface, which also allows customers to view 3D multimedia without the need for a special graphics card.

The notebook features a 15.6-inch Acer CineCrystal™ HD display coated with a special 3D film which clings to the panel pixel by pixel, enabling the LCD technology to deliver a 3D image. Users slip on a pair of included 3D polarizer eyeglasses, which filter 2D images to 3D, and enjoy eye-popping, true cinematic high def playback of movies, video and games. Customers can use the TriDef Media Player for playback of videos and photos in 3D, while the TriDef Ignition tool to enables 2D to 3D conversion for games and applications supporting DirectX 9 and above.

Beyond the notebook’s unique 3D capabilities, the Aspire 5738DG provides HD entertainment with a host of high-performance features. The system is fueled by Intel Core 2 Duo Processor technology, providing the power needed to enjoy the most demanding applications and experience the ultimate in digital media. Powerful ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570 Graphics with 512 Dedicated DDR3 VRAM graphics delivers vivid color and crisp detail and provides the muscle to render 3D content for a cinematic multimedia experience in a mobile package. Dolby Home Theater® Audio Enhancement with built-in stereo speakers and 5.1-channel surround sound output brings entertainment to life with vibrant audio clarity.

Comfortable Usability and Mobile Performance for Work and Play
Customers will have plenty of ways to access, store, share and enjoy their digital media files. The spacious 320GB hard drive can store a vast library of music, video, photos, spreadsheets and email. An integrated multi-in-one media reader enables a convenient connection to peripherals and electronic devices, while the HDMI port allows the system to support any PC, TV or other device via a single cable to its HDMI port. The four USB 2.0 ports provide ample connections to peripherals and consumer electronics.

The Aspire 5738DG notebook’s integrated 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N wireless technology and Gigabit Ethernet facilitates smooth and trouble-free emailing and web browsing. The Acer Crystal Eye webcam enables high-quality video chats and VoIP with friends, family and work associates. It can also capture still pictures and videos for sharing with others. The notebook also utilizes a Multi-Gesture Touchpad which lets customers pinch, flick and swirl fingers on the touchpad for intuitive navigation. It also allows customers to scroll, zoom in and out and flip through of web pages, photos, spreadsheets and more. The touchpad lock also prevents accidental cursor movement.

The new Acer Aspire 5738DG 3D notebook PC also comes with helpful and easy-to-use one-touch buttons: the Acer Backup Manager for backing-up important files and information, and the PowerSmart button for maximizing battery life. In addition, the notebook is Energy Star qualified.
