ProMOS and Hynix announce strategic alliance

The Taiwan-based ProMOS and the South Korean Hynix announced a strategic alliance pact that will control approx. a fourth of the world's DRAM output.
ProMOS will produce DRAM using Hynix’s 90nm stack technology at its 12-inch fab in Taichung, Taiwan, by the end of this year, ProMOS said in a press release. ProMOS plans to allocate less than 50% of its fab capacity to Hynix.

The two companies will also undertake future joint development activities, according to the press statement. That may include co-developing 65nm technology, as indicated by ML Chen, president of ProMOS, during a December 13 press conference
