NVIDIA Fermi to be available in low quantities by mid-March?

TG Daily received word from an NVIDIA partner that NVIDIA's Fermi will go into production starting in the 3rd week of February. The first graphics cards are reportedly expected to be available by mid-March, but only in low quantities.

According to the site, Fermi's yields will not be worse than what ATI is experiencing. The reporter talks about a 4 percent yield, but this must be a mistake as it was reported a couple of weeks ago that TSMC's 40nm process achieved yields of around 40 percent in late October 2009.
According to our source, Fermi's yield will be low but not any worse than what AMD/ATI is experiencing. TSMC, the company producing Radeon HD 5800 series at 40nm, is "happy at 4-percent yield," said our source.
