Eurocom introduced the W860CU Cougar, W870CU Cheetah and X8100 Caliber, three new notebooks based on the Intel Arrandale platform with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.
Eurocom, the world's leading developer of highly personalized, high-performance notebook PCs and LCD PCs, updates its Mobile Workstation notebook line-up to support Intel i3 Core, i5 Core and i7 Cores processors codenamed "Arrandale". As of present, all Eurocom models support both "Arrandale" Dual Core and "Clarksfield" Quad Core processors.

The new "Arrandale" processors are the first to feature the main processor, integrated graphics, and the memory controller on a single CPU package, with CPU die being manufactured using the new 32-nanometer process. This innovation promises to increase laptops' computing performance while decreasing power consumption and heat.

Unlike recently released Core i7 "Clarksfield" 45nm quad-core products, the "Arrandale" Core i5, and Core i7 both have dual CPU cores.
The i5 and i7 mobile series incorporate TurboBoost technology that automatically allowing for processor overclocking providing that it is operating below power, current, and temperature limits. TurboBoost is not present in the Core i3 series.

Another technology for performance improvement is Hyper-Threading, allowing two parallel threads per CPU core. It's available on all "Arrandale" units.

Clock speeds and power consumption (TDP) of the new processors range from 1.06GHz and 18W on an ultra-low voltage model to 2.66GHz (up to 3.33GHz w/TurboBoost) and 35W on the fastest full-voltage CPU. The cache size is 3MB on the Core i3 and Core i5, whereas the Core i7 "Arrandale" has 4MB.

Eurocom offers the most complete line of notebooks supporting both Arrandale and Clarksfield processors for Mobile Workstations-class notebooks including 15.6-inch EUROCOM W860CU Cougar,

A high performance, integrated ExpressCard 34/54 slot adds modular expansion capability and supports various external peripheral functionality including 2nd LAN support.

Upgradeable Processor Technology
Driving the system is Intel Core i7 Mobile or Core i7 Extreme with up to8MB of L3 cache, which delivers exceptional high-def multimedia, multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance.

Intel's "Clarksfield" i7 Core Mobile processor is Nehalem-based 45nm chip and its part of Intel's Clarksfield contains 840 million transistors and will run at a power envelope of up 55W. That's somewhat higher than the chipmaker's mainstream thermal design power (TDP) of 35W, meaning that the extra performance will take its toll on battery life.

This high-performance CPU allows users to simultaneously run multiple applications at the same time -- all with increased performance. Performing tasks such as burning CDs, reading email messages, editing digital photos and listening to music all at the same time with no slow downs means a richer overall experience for the user.
