Sources at motherboard makers reveal Intel plans to introduce the new Huron River notebook platform in Q1 2011. The Huron River platform will include the 6-series Cougar Point chipset, 32nm Sandy Bridge processor, and the Rainbow Peak and Taylor Peak wireless modules.

Huron River will use dual-core and quad-core Sandy Bridge processors, which feature integrated DX10.1 graphics (codenamed Ironlake). The Cougar Point chipset will have support for SATA 6Gbps, but unfortunately it will still lack support for USB 3.0.
