AU Optronics (AUO) executive Paul Peng revealed all of his companies' panels for LCD TVs, notebooks and LCD monitors will be LED-backlit by 2013. Peng notes that LED-backlit TVs are about 1.4 to 1.8 times more expensive than same-size CCFL-backlit panels, and 3D LED TVs are twice as expensive.
AU Optronics' (AUO's) panels for LCD TVs, notebooks and LCD monitors will be 100% LED-backlit by 2013, according to the company executive VP of global business unit Paul Peng.

Peng noted that the share of LED-backlit models will reach 84% of the total notebook market in 2010. AUO's LED-backlit notebook panels will be 100% LED-backlit by the end of 2010, with the overall share of LED-backlit notebook panels reaching 95% for the whole year, up from 80% in 2009.

LED-backlit LCD monitors will account for 20% of the global monitor market in 2010, and AUO's monitor panels will be 30% LED-backlit in 2010, and 100% in 2012, Peng added.
