MSI send out a press release with some additional info about the Military Class components it uses on its new high-end motherboards.
World renowned motherboard and graphics card manufacturer MSI continues to uphold innovation and product quality taking consumer challenges to the extreme of perfection. Following the release of the MSI AMD 800 series mainboards at the beginning of the year, the company has introduced an entire series of Military Class mainboards. The Military Class series includes the upcoming Big Bang-XPower, MSI X58, P55, H55 mainboards, which have similar complete performance experience. From procurement of even the most basic materials, MSI insists on using high-end military class components. With a foundation of 23 years research & development, MSI is up to the challenge of providing extreme reliability, stability, and ultra-high performance.

By using ultra-high standard components which comply with the component temperature testing requirements of US Department of Defense, these components can surely perform high stability with lower temperature. MSI's Military Class series of products use highly-conductive polymerized capacitors (Hi-c CAP), the same class of components used in space shuttles and communications satellites, as well as ultra-long lasting Solid Capacitors to prolong overall lifespan of the board. With new generation Icy Choke design, overheating from high current loads produced by overclocking is reduced, giving consumers unprecedented stability and enjoyment. In 2010, MSI will demonstrate new standards in extreme technology and set new milestones for innovation, stability, and performance.

The Extreme Experience of Military Class Servers-Hi-c CAP
Compared to the overall performance of standard capacitors, the server grade Hi-c CAP, with a core made of the rare element Tantalum (Ta), is most often used in high precision computing that requires long processing times in the most severe operating environments, such as in space shuttles and satellites. Regardless of the temperature, product lifecycle is enhanced 8 times longer when compared to standard capacitors. Also worth noting, at temperatures of 65°C or below, Hi-c CAP has an amazing 200 year life-span.

Thanks to its special structural design and internal elements, Hi-c CAP also offers power consumption 15 times lower than standard capacitors, as well as a self-repair mechanism. This not only meets the processor's full power requirements, but also achieves the dual functionality of high stability and ultra-high performance.

The key element of high stability – Icy Choke
New generation Icy Choke is the result of the application of the latest materials and structural designs. Compared to traditional choke, Icy choke can deliver high heat resistance, low power consumption, and low noise. Besides, the temperature that Icy choke generates in high load condition is 20°C lower than traditional choke, this is a key improvement to perform better power supply and efficiency and hugely increase the lifespan and stability.

For most of overclockers who always seek high mainboard stability and performance, MSI Military Class series mainboard with Icy choke will be the best choice to meet all their requirements.

The Key Indicator of Board Life-Span-Solid CAP
In order to provide extreme product performance, MSI's series of Military Class products feature a life-span enhancing Solid CAP design. Compared to standard capacitors, Military Class solid capacitors use high polymer aluminum, which increases heat resistance in operating environments of 80°C or below and provides an ultra-long product life-span of over 10 years. Additional heat-resistant characteristics reduce the risk of blown capacitors, which not only means ultra-high product life-span potential, but at the same time ensures product stability and security safeguards.

In addition to the features mentioned above, Solid CAP offers a comparatively lower amount of equivalent series resistance (ESR), which provides lower operating temperatures, reduced power consumption, and more intelligent power application. Economical and stable, these products fulfill the dual requirements of endurance and stability.

Insisting on innovative product development requires more than solid R&D and years of accumulated experience—component design and configuration are also important. In order to provide consumers with complete solutions, MSI performs strict analysis of consumers' user experiences, explores the use of newly developed high end materials and sets high standards for innovation in order to offer products that feature quality, longevity, and stability. By offering the best products, MSI is ready to meet the future needs of consumers.
