Intel today officially launched five new 64-bit processors including the Pentium 4 600 series and also the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73GHz.

All five support Intel's EM64T, the 64-bit technologyu which will become available for all newly introduced Intel desktop processors - including the Intel Celeron D which will be launched later this year.
The Intel Pentium 4 Processor 6xx sequence processors help enable new power-saving benefits to the desktop with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST). Similar to the technology used in Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, EIST can enable power-saving by reducing overall average processor power consumption.
The Pentium 4 processor 6xx series feature Hyper-Threading technology and come in speeds up to 3.60GHz, with an 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST).

The new Pentium 4 Extreme Edition runs at 3.73GHz with an 1066MHz FSB and 2MB L2 cache.

Prices of Intel's new processors (in 1,000 quantities):
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition 3.73 GHz: $999
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor 660 (3.60 GHz): $605
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor 650 (3.40 GHz): $401
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor 640 (3.20 GHz): $273
  • Intel Pentium 4 processor 630 (3.00 GHz): $224
