The Tech Report spotted a rumor that Intel is prepping the Core i5-760 with a clockspeed of 2.8GHz. This chip will succeed the Core i5-750, the company's cheapest quad-core Nehalem.
Citing nebulous "Intel sources," XFastest calls this successor the Core i5-760, and it cites a 2.8GHz clock speed and a BX80605I5760 model number for the retail-boxed offering. (We're not seeing any premature e-tail listings yet, believe it or not.) Intel will reportedly base the i5-760 on the same stepping as the i5-750, so overclocking potential and other factors might not be too different.

For the unacquainted, the Core i5-750 has four 45-nm cores clocked at 2.66GHz with 8MB of L3 cache and a 95W thermal envelope.
