Netscape 8 beta released

Netscape today released a beta version of Netscape 8.

So far the company has only released a Windows version of Netscape 8 which includes several features to improve the security. This includes a system to deflect phishing attacks. A blacklist/whitelist mechanism named "Trust List" should warn users of insecure or suspicious websites before opening them.
The beta, admitted Netscape, is buggy. "There are known intermittent crashes that can occur for various reasons," said Netscape in its posted release notes. The beta also lacks the recent security fixes applied to Firefox by its 1.0.1 version, but promised to integrate them at some point.
