Sony has announced an iPod shuffle competitor in the shape of flash memory based Walkman portable music players. The company stated it will launch them in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB capacity.

The Sony Walkman MP3 players will be more advanced as competitors devices. The company said that some models will have an OLED display and that some would have a three hours playback time with just three minutes of recharging.

The new Walkman players from Sony will become available later this month - the 256MB version will retail for less than $90 and the 1GB version will sell for approx. $200.
