DigiTimes heard Mio will release a 7" Windows CE-based tablet in Q4 2010, this model will be aimed at the Taiwanese market and will feature WiFi and WiMAX. The site reports the company wants to enter the tablet market to diversificate its business operation.
Mio Technology, a division of the Mitac Group, will launch a 7-inch Windows CE tablet PC equipped with Wi-Fi and WiMAX in the Taiwan market initially in fourth-quarter 2010, the first step to diversifying its business operations to cope with stagnant growth in the global PND market, according to the company.

Partly due to smartphones, market demand for PNDs in Western Europe and North America during the first half of 2010 dropped about 10% on year, Mio indicated. With 90% of revenues coming from PNDs currently, Mio has been under pressure to transform operations, the company said.
