AMD to price entry-level dual-core Opteron at high-end single-core price

The pricing of AMD's entry-level dual-core Opteron processors will be the same as its high-end single-core versions, according to Taiwanese motherboard makers. It is said that the Opteron 200 and 800 series will be launched at 1.80GHz, 2.0GHz and 2.20GHz with a 95W thermal design power.

The first dual-core Opteron processors will be launched within 2 days, on April 21. The Opteron 800 and 200 series will hit the market this quarter and the 100 series will be available in the third quarter of this year.
