The Russian space agency said that the Soyuz TMA-5 has undocked from the ISS to take a three-man crew back home.

The Russian cosmonaut Salizhan Sharipov, US astronaut Leroy Chiao and the Italian Roberti Vittori left the International Space Station at 18:45 GMT.

The Soyuz spacecraft will land early in the morning in the northern steppes of Kazakhstan, where Russian planes, helicopters and a US medical team are standby for a search operation.
