Crime in New York City's subway has dropped 18 percent compared to the same period in 2004 while its ridership has increased.

Electronic devices such as cell phones and iPods are among the most stolen subjects according to Transit chief Michael Scagnelli.

He said that this year already more than 50 iPods have been reported stolen on the subways. Most victims are students and the criminals are also youths.
