Bill Gates explained today at a meeting with business journalists that the next-generation Xbox will be much more than just a PC hybrid like the present Xbox. Instead it will be more like a digital entertainment hub.

Gates didn't mention a lot of details about the Xbox 360 except that the console will feature improved communication tools to make online multiplayer games more enjoyable.

He also said the software menu of the next-gen Xbox will be similar to that of Windows Media Center Edition. Bill further added that console gamers will be given the opportunity to chat with their buddies, see whether they are online, access music and photos on their consoles in a familiar interface.
