eBay down because of power outage

eBay was down yesterday due a power outage. A little after 9 p.m. Pacific the individual auction pages stopped working, and soon the main page also became inaccessible.

The system announcements page then stated that the site is unavailable and that they were working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

About an hour later, the auction giant updated the message to read, "eBay experienced a power outage at a principal hosting facility in the (San Francisco) Bay Area. Some eBay functions and listings are now available, and we are working to fully restore the rest of the site."
