Firefox 4 was officially announced on Tuesday 22 March, and netted 7.1 million downloads in the first 24 hours it was available. This is three times as many downloads as Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 9 browser managed during the first day of its launch on 14 March.At press time, the download counter stood at 26.53 million.
