Taiwanese industry sources told DigiTimes that Toshiba is planning to release glass-free 3D notebooks in the second half of this year. These systems will utilize in-house developed integral imaging technology.
Although a number of notebook vendors including Acer, Asustek Computer, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell, Lenovo and Micro-Star International (MSI) have launched 3D notebooks using shutter glasses or polarized glass solutions, sales of 3D notebooks have not expanded as expected, noted the sources, adding that some vendors have now become more conservative about the prospects of 3D notebooks.
