Posted on Tuesday, May 03 2011 @ 22:32:21 CEST by

AMD fills the gap in its product release schedule with the Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition, a new 45nm quad-core Deneb with a frequency of 3.7GHz. The chip has 2MB L2, 6MB L3, and a 125W TDP. Pricing is around the $195 mark.
AMD is proud to announce our fastest quad-core processor ever, the AMD Phenom™ II X4 980 Black Edition processor. This affordable processor is a drop-in replacement for many existing AM3 motherboards and operates at a stunning 3.7GHz with a 6MB L3 cache. These processors and AMD’s award winning AMD Radeon™ HD 6000-series graphics make it easy to build a new PC with awesome bang-for-the-buck configurations for gaming and entertainment.
