DigiTimes writes the notebook market is unlikely to see peak season effects in 2H 2011 as demand remains suppressed due to economic crisis and the impact by tablet PCs.
The notebook industry is unlikely to return to its usual seasonal pattern of having shipment proportions of 4:6 for the first and the second halves in 2011 as the US and Europe are still suffering from weak economies, while tablet PCs are also impacting the demand for notebooks. With Acer dumping a large volume of inventory, orders to Taiwan-based notebook makers from brand vendors are expected to see a significant impact, according to sources from notebook makers.

As the bond crisis is still roaming within Europe, while the US economy is also in danger of suffering from a major decline again, purchasing in Europe and the US in the second half of 2011 is turning weak with Hewlett-Packard (HP), Acer and Dell are all turning conservative about placing orders, the sources noted.
