Posted on Tuesday, July 19 2011 @ 22:25:38 CEST by

Legit Reviews picked up that AMD's A8-3870 Llano APU will offer unlocked multipliers. This chip is expected to be released in Q4 2011.
It appears that a presentation slide has leaked out from AMD that shows an A8-3870 APU with unlocked multipliers is due out in Q4 2011! This processor has the same Radeon HD 6550D GPU inside, but is said to feature an increased processor clock speed of 3.1GHz. The AMD A8-3850 runs at 2.9GHz and the A6-3650 runs at 2.6GHz. AMD didn't have to increase the max TDP on the A8-3870 as it shows up as being 100W TDP on the slide!
