Qualcomm Atheros announced it has acquired Bigfoot Networks. Exact details about the deal and what Qualcomm Atheros plans to do with Bigfoot's technology are unknown.
Bigfoot™ Networks’ high-performance Killer® technology enables intelligent networking solutions to improve the way people enjoy the Internet. The technology is market-proven in WLAN and Ethernet solutions for computers requiring high-performance gaming experiences and is employed in platforms of leading OEMs. The explosion of online applications and content, and the growing number of devices that access these applications, places increased stress on consumer end points. The Killer technology is well positioned to address this challenge with solutions that intelligently manage, prioritize and direct digital content on home and mobile networks. Bigfoot Networks' team and technology were acquired in August, 2011 by Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated., to deliver value-added intelligent networking solutions dedicated to enhancing the end user networking experience.
