Intel D2500 and D2700 Cedar Trail Atoms arrive

Posted on Wednesday, September 28 2011 @ 12:38:27 CEST by

CPU World writes Intel has launched its D2500 and D2700 "Cedar Trail" Atom chips:
First details of Cedar View processors surfaced in May of this year, and their release was initially planned for this month. There was a rumor that Atoms could be delayed due to certification problems of DirectX 10.1 graphics drivers. Despite of these problems, the CPUs are launched this week, likely without DirectX 10.1 support. Intel official price list was updated today, and the new version of the list includes two D2500 and D2700 CPUs for nettops and ULV desktops. We don't know whether Cedar Trail platform will be officially announced later in the week, or not.

Introduced Atom microprocessors have two cores and 1 MB level 2 cache. Atom D2500 operates at 1.86 GHz, and has integrated graphics controller clocked at 400 MHz. Second model, D2700, adds Hyper-Threading technology, and also features higher 2.13 GHz core and 640 MHz graphics frequencies. Both CPUs have 10W Thermal Design Power. The D2500 will be offered for $42, whereas D2700 will cost $52 in 1K quantities. According to Intel roadmaps, the D2500 and D2700 will be top desktop Atom models until at least the second quarter 2012.
