Maxtor to launch 500GB HDD in Q3 2005

Maxtor today announced it will ship 500GB HDDs in the third quarter of this year. They will come as 3.5-inch 7200RPM SATA300 and ATA133.

The new capacity will be featured in the in the following series: Maxtor QuickView, MaXLine , DiamondMax, Maxtor Shared Storage and Maxtor OneTouch brand hard drives.

The new 500GB hard drives will include a host of new features to meet the distinct needs of each brand's application area. The features will provide significant improvements in areas such as performance, thermal optimization, data management and security, interface and AV stream detection.

The 500GB hard drives will also be RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant.
