ASUS says it has 70 percent of X79 motherboard market

ASUS told DigiTimes that its X79 motherboards have a marketshare of 70 percent in the X79 motherboard market:
Asustek Computer's X79 series motherboards have attained a global market share of 70% for motherboard models equipped with Intel X79 Express chipset, according to the company.

In addition, Asustek's Z68 and P67 series motherboards have each reached global market shares of 50-60%, the company indicated.

Asustek will begin to ship motherboards equipped with Intel Ivy Bridge processors and 7 series chipsets in late February 2012, the company noted.

Asustek shipped 23.5 million motherboards in 2011 and aims to ship 25 million units in 2012.
