Adobe Flash Player 11.2 is out

Posted on Thursday, March 29 2012 @ 09:28:35 CEST by

Engadget informs that Adobe has released Flash Player 11.2 and AIR 3.2. These new releases deliver some enhancements for browser-based gaming:
With 11.2, Adobe is bringing support for mouse-lock, right and middle click events, and multi-threaded video decoding. The software also supports 2D and 3D graphics at speeds of up to 60 frames per second, and, when running on Windows machines, will automatically update itself in the background. As for AIR 3.2, it now supports Stage3D graphics on both iOS and Android, promising "jaw-dropping visuals" with monstrously fast GPU rendering.
However, some of the "premium" features that make 3D games in Flash possible will require payment, but only after an app makes over $50,000:
The premium features are available royalty free and without restriction through July 31, 2012. Starting August 1, the premium features will require a license from Adobe. Applications that make less than $50,000 in revenues will remain free of any royalties, as will any use of the premium features in applications packaged with Adobe AIR, including mobile applications for iOS and Android.

There is no charge to use premium features in applications that generate less than $50,000 in application revenue. For each application that has net revenue up to $50,000, the fee to use premium features will be a 9% revenue share on application net revenue above $50,000.
