LaCie introuces the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series, a new SATA 6Gbps SSD storage product that delivers read speeds of up to 635MB/s. This new storage solution is available at LaCie's website in 512GB and 1TB capacities, with prices starting at $699.
Today LaCie announced that the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt™ Series, design by Neil Poulton, now features SATA III SSDs (6Gb/s interface). With read speeds up to 635MB/s, the LaCie Little Big Disk is the fastest portable Thunderbolt solution on the market. It can transfer a 50GB project in less than two minutes or edit six uncompressed 422 streams at the same time. A game changer for content creators and professional users – the LaCie Little Big Disk delivers fibre channel rackmount speeds in a portable solution.

"We saw an opportunity to make the LaCie Little Big Disk even faster and jumped on it," said Erwan Girard, Professional Business Unit Manager, LaCie. "The new LaCie Little Big Disk can complete tasks in minutes that used to take hours. This saves our customers time and therefore money."

At just 1.4 pounds, the LaCie Little Big Disk is a portable powerhouse. While meeting with a client, photographers can browse smoothly through digital photo libraries and experience zero lag time. Away from the studio, videographers can dramatically reduce the time to publish a project. They simply download their footage directly from a compatible camera to the LaCie Little Big Disk, and begin the edit process in the field.

The product features a pair of 2.5" SATA III SSDs. A RAID array can be configured using the Mac OS Disk Utility for performance (RAID 0) or security (RAID 1). It supports daisy chaining up to six compatible devices such as displays and other peripherals.

The new LaCie Little Big Disk joins LaCie's successful line of Thunderbolt storage solutions, which include the LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series, LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series and LaCie eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series. LaCie leads the market with the widest selection of Thunderbolt peripherals available.
