Techseekers has reviewed a copy of Red Hat Linux 8 Professional:
Will this release compete against Windows on the Destop ? Unfortunately I don't think it is suitable for the home , but certainly for the office. With Microsofts ever confusing Licencing "Schemes" and higher cost it is an alternative well worth considering. But Windows has a hugh foothold in the home desktop market and with modern devices such as cameras, scanners, webcams firewire and USB2 as well as Bluetooth etc, its getting difficult for Linux to keep up and to operate these items trouble free and as easily as their Windows counterpart.Hardware manufacturers also have to include Linux in its driver development before Linux can take over the home desktop systems.

Lets hope the next major version can take the place of Windows in the Home.
