AMD launches Radeon HD 8000M series

AMD announced at CES that Radeon HD 8000M mobile graphics cards are now shipping with ASUS and Samsung, with Lenovo and others to follow soon. The Radeon HD 8800M series is based on the Heathrow GPU, which offers 640 stream processors, 40 texture units and 16 ROPs, along with a 128-bit memory bus and 2GB GDDR5 (or DDR3) memory. Heathrow is a somewhat updated version of the 7800M's GPU.

The 8700M is based on Mars, a new GPUwith 384 stream processors, 24 texture units, and 8 ROPs, as well as a 128-bit memory bus and 2GB of GDDR5 or DDR3 memory. The Radeon HD 8600M and Radeon HD 8500M series share the same Mars GPU, but a cut-down version of it. Full specifications of each 8000M GPU can be found at AnandTech.
2013 International Consumer Electronics Show - AMD (NYSE: AMD) today launched the AMD Radeon HD 8000M Series of mobile graphics processing units (GPUs) set to deliver discrete graphics performance to a variety of notebook designs, including the incredibly portable ultrathin form factor.
