ASUS introduces the MeMO Pad, a new 7" Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" tablet that will hit the US in April for as little as $149. The tablet features a 7-inch screen with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, a VIA WM8950 SoC with a single-core ARM Cortex-A9 core clocked at 1GHz, 1GB RAM, 8 to 16GB of storage capacity, microSD memory card slot, 802.11n WiFi, a 1MP webcam (with 720p HD recording at 30fps).

The tablet has a thickness of 11mm and weighs 370g. ASUS rates the battery life at seven hours and claims this is a device designed to deliver "excellent performance per Watt and a smooth and fluid user experience at an extremely affordable price". The company even admits the tablet won't win any benchmarks and advises Android enthusiasts and 3D gaming fans to look elsewhere.
