ICANN approved the new .mobi top level domain which is aimed at websites that have been designed to be viewed on mobile phones.
The registration of names on the “.mobi” domain will be handled by mTLD Top Level Domain, a joint venture set up by a number of mobile phone companies, including Hutchison 3, the GSM Association, Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, Syniverse Technologies, TIM, Telefonica Moviles, T-Mobile and Vodafone.
