Samsung to develop cell phones with Wi-Fi functionality

Samsung and Kineto Wireless announced today that they have entered into an agreement where Samsung will license Kineto Wireless UMA technology for inclusion in future Samsung Cellular/Wi-Fi handsets.

UMA Technology, the 3GPP standard for Cellular/Wi-Fi convergence, enables mobile operators to leverage the economic and performance advantages of Wi-Fi/IP access to provide a dramatically improved subscriber experience for mobile voice, data and IMS services.
