Mozilla: ''IE7 to fuel Firefox growth''

While Microsoft is preparing Internet Explorer 7 to regain marketshare in the browser market the Firefox developers believe IE7 will actually boost Firefox growth. Microsoft won't launch IE7 for Windows 2000 and thus some people like Asa Dotzler believe Firefox may get a new influx of corporate users.

"We have high hopes that we'll do better and better in (the enterprise) space with Windows 2000 users," Dotzler said. "We're excited about Microsoft launching IE 7--it will remind a lot of people that if they want better features they have to spend hundreds of dollars upgrading" to Windows XP.

According to a recent survey almost half of all businesses still use Windows 2000 and many still use older versions of Windows. Next month Firefox 1.1 will be released and this version will incorporate some features to appeal businesses like an auto-updater and tools to lock down browser preferences. Read more at CNET
