Microsoft Surface 2 arrives on October 22 for $449

Microsoft shows off the Surface 2, the successor to the Surface RT. The new 10.6" model features NVIDIA's Tegra 4 SoC and will run Windows 8.1 RT. The screen now has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, there's 2GB RAM, one USB 3.0 port, a 3.5MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera.

The device is thinner than its predecessor and with a weight of 630g its also a bit lighther. Microsoft claims Surface 2 runs "three to four times" faster than its predecessor - while the battery life has been extended to up to ten hours when playing video.

Surface 2 will be available in 32GB and 64GB models starting October 22nd for 429EUR ($449) and 529EUR ($549), respectively.
