Bitcoin continues exponential rise, nears $1,150 in China

The exponential rise of cryptocurrency Bitcoin over the past couple of weeks has left many people scratching their heads. Trading in recent days has been extremely wild, with massive upswings typically followed by a mass wave of selling before hitting yet another record level.

In US dollars the virtual currency hit a peak of over $900 today but it seems the real action is happening over in China.

Over at the Renminbi-denominated BTC China exchange, pricing hit even higher levels than at Mt. Gox. At press time, the BTC China exchange recorded a peak of 6989 yuan, the equivalent of USD$1147.22!
