DigiTimes received word that Intel's 22nm Haswell Refresh processors will become available in April. The new processors use the same LGA1150 socket as the original Haswell processors so they will be compatible with current Intel 8-series motherboards after applying a BIOS update. Intel 9-series motherboards will also be backward compatible with current Haswell processors.
The new Haswell Refresh processors will include Core i7-4790, i5-4690/5490, i3-4360/4350/4150, Pentium G3450/G3440/G3240 and Celeron G1850/G1840. Intel will also release 12 new low-power processors including Core i7-4790S/4790T/4785T and i5-4690S.

Intel's K series and top-end Extreme Haswell-E processors and X99 chipsets will make their debut in the third quarter. Meanwhile, entry-level Bay Trail-D-based processors such as Pentium J2900 and Celeron J1900/J1800 will all be placed by new Braswell-based processors in early 2015.
The Haswell Refresh will be succeeded by the 14nm Broadwell platform, the notebook versions of Broadwell are expected in Q4 2014 while the desktop variant will follow in Q1 2015.
