The optical storage market is filled with many reputable brand names that offer an abundance of features combined with fast writing speeds. For most consumers an optical drive is a very cost effective investment since it provides so many advantages in terms being a cheap storage alternative. The popularity of audio applications as well as the price of CDR Media has confirmed that optical drives are mandatory for most computer systems. Recently, there has been a shift in terms of attention from big name companies such as HP, Yamaha and Plextor to the lesser known Lite-On IT Corp based out of Taiwan.
